An air compressor cooling tank was experiencing significant corrosion issues due to prolonged exposure to high humidity and elevated operating temperatures (120°C). The ongoing corrosion posed a threat to the tank’s integrity, necessitating a durable solution to prevent further deterioration.

Surface Preparation

- The internal surfaces of the compressor cooling tank were abrasive blast cleaned to achieve a surface cleanliness level of SA 2.5 with a 75-micron profile, in accordance with ISO 8501/4 Standard (SSPC SP10/NACE 2). This preparation was crucial for ensuring that the coating adhered effectively to the substrate.

Application of UPS 225 HT HIGH TEMPERATURE CERAMIC

- UPS 225 HT was applied in two coats to the internal surfaces of the tank. Each coat was applied to a nominal thickness of 500 microns using plastic applicators and stiff-bristled brushes. This coating provided a robust barrier against the corrosive effects of humidity and high temperatures.

The application of UPS 225 HT successfully protected the compressor cooling tank from further corrosion. The high-performance ceramic coating provided a long-lasting solution, ensuring the tank remained operational and reliable despite the challenging environmental conditions.
