Within a large mining operation, a 22-inch main water line that supplied water to the extraction wells developed a break. Unique Polymer Systems provided an effective repair solution using UPS THISTLEBOND EMERGENCY PIPE REPAIR BANDAGE. The application process involved the following steps:

Preparation

- The area around the pipe was cleared, leaving 100mm of space below the pipe to allow the bandage to be passed around it.

- Mechanical grinders were used to prepare the surface, ensuring it was clean and ready for the application of the repair bandage.

Application of UPS THISTLEBOND EMERGENCY PIPE REPAIR BANDAGE

- UPS THISTLEBOND EMERGENCY PIPE REPAIR BANDAGE was used to repair the 22-inch pipe. The bandage was applied in layers, with over 100 rolls used to achieve a final thickness of14mm.

- The repair was completed without the need to reduce the pressure in the line, ensuring that the water supply to the wells was maintained throughout the process.
