During the construction of a new pipeline, it was essential to apply a protective lining to the internal surfaces of the steel pipes. The pipes were intended to transport materials that could cause significant wear and chemical corrosion, necessitating a robust and long-lasting protective solution.

The primary challenge was to apply a uniform, high-quality coating to the internal surfaces of the steel pipes, ensuring complete coverage and sufficient thickness to withstand the demanding conditions the pipes would face.

UNIQUE POLYMER SYSTEMS provided a comprehensive pipe lining solution using UPS 405 EPC. The application process involved the following steps:

Surface Preparation

- The internal surfaces of the steel pipes were abrasive grit blasted to remove any contaminants and create a clean, rough surface for the coating to adhere to.This step was crucial for ensuring the effectiveness and longevity of the protective lining.

Application of UPS405 EPC EPOXY PROTECTIVE COATING

- UPS 405 EPC was applied using heated plural feed airless spray equipment and a pneumatic spinning head. The material was heated to 30°C and pumped to the application head, where it was mixed and applied to the internal surface of the pipes.

- A thickness of 500 microns was achieved by carefully regulating the material flow rate and the speed at which the applicator head was winched through the pipe. This process ensured an even, durable coating that would protect the pipes from wear and chemical exposure.
