A factory faced a significant issue with a failed and leaking weld joint on its heating system's hot water pipe. The continuous leakage posed a risk of system downtime and costly repairs if not addressed promptly.

The primary challenge was to perform a durable and efficient repair without causing extended disruption to the factory's operations. The repair needed to withstand the operational conditions and provide a long-lasting solution.

UNIQUE POLYMER SYSTEMS provided an effective repair strategy using our UPS 105 EG. This high-performance paste is specifically designed for metal repairs, offering excellent adhesion and durability under demanding conditions.

Preparation: The hot water pipe was first drained and allowed to cool to ambient temperature to ensure a safe and effective repair environment.

Surface Preparation: The repair area was thoroughly cleaned and abraded using the UPS MINI-BLASTER. This process achieved a surface cleanliness level of Sa 2.5, ensuring optimal adhesion of the repair paste.

Application of UPS 105 EG: UPS 105 EG was applied to both the cleaned substrate and a preformed steel plate. Both surfaces were pressed together and secured with a clamp to maintain contact during the curing process.

Finial Finish: After the initial bond cured, a final finish coat of UPS 105 EG was applied over the bonded plate to encapsulate it, providing additional protection and ensuring a robust and permanent repair.

The repair was completed successfully, restoring the integrity of the hot water pipe and preventing further leaks. The factory was able to resume normal operations with minimal downtime, thanks to the quick and efficient application process of UPS 105 EG.
