UNIQUE POLYMER SYSTEMS provided a comprehensive refurbishment and protection solution using UPS 505 WAU WRAS. The application process involved the following steps:

Disassembly and Surface Preparation

- The water pump was disassembled into its individual components to allow for thorough cleaning and coating of all surfaces.

- All surfaces were abrasive grit blasted to achieve a surface cleanliness level of Sa2.5 with a75-micron profile, in accordance with ISO 8501/4 Standard Sa 2.5 (SSPCSP10/NACE 2). This preparation was essential to ensure optimal adhesion of the protective coating.

Application of UPS 505 WAU WRAS APPROVED URETHANE

- Two coats of UPS505 WAU were applied to all surfaces. The coats were applied in alternate colours to a nominal dry film thickness of 350 microns per coat, ensuring complete and even coverage.

- The use of alternate colours helped to ensure that the entire surface was fully coated, providing comprehensive protection against future corrosion.

The application of UPS 505 WAU successfully refurbished the aged water pump, restoring its functionality and providing robust protection against corrosion. The durable coating extended the operational life of the pump, ensuring its continued performance in a water system environment.
