Surface Preparation

- The tank's substrate was abrasive blast cleaned using an angular grit to achieve a surface cleanliness level of SA2.5 with a 75-micron profile. This surface preparation was crucial to ensure optimal adhesion of the protective coating. 

Application of UPS 405 EPC-XL EPOXY PROTECTIVE COATING – EXTENDED LIFE

- The prepared surface was coated with two layers of UPS 405 EPC-XL. The coating was applied using a single-leg airless spray to achieve a nominal total dry film thickness of 650 microns. This dual-coat system provided a robust protective barrier against corrosion.

The application of UPS 405 EPC-XL successfully protected the petroleum tank from potential underground corrosion. The durable coating ensured that the tank would maintain its integrity over the long term, providing reliable service in its buried environment.
